Water Rescue

The task of recovering a body from the water can sometimes be difficult, and is always unpleasant and delicate. The difficulties can be compounded by problems of possible contamination to the body, with the consequent risk to the operational crew making the recovery, and the possible compromise of forensic evidence.

The Water Body Forensic Recovery system, which was developed with the assistance of Strathclyde Police, can be used to recover a body from either the surface of the water, or from underwater.

Surface recovery utilises the renowned SB Rescue Sling: the Forensic Recovery Bag is attached to the Sling, and allows the operator to quickly and easily recover the body. By using the Sling, the body can be captured and the bag closed without having to physically touch the body. Underwater recovery presents other challenges, for which we offer a different version of the Forensic Recovery Bag. This is manufactured from a heavier material, and is designed for deployment by a diver.

The body recovery bags use a mesh design which allows water to disperse without loss of forensic evidence. Carrying handles are incorporated into the bags to facilitate transfer of the recovered body from a boat to shore. For particularly difficult forensic situations, we also supply small bags which provide additional protection for the head / hands / feet.
